Birthday of Prophet Muhammad (uwbp)

Almost a fifth of whole human race – red, yellow, black, brown and white; 800,000,000 (eight hundred million) in the five continents will celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) on the 12th of Rabi-Ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.

On this day was born the man who was destined to change the course of History.

A man without any worldly learning put to shame the wisdom of the learned. By the help of Almighty Allaah. he introduced the dawn of science, culture and civilization. He transformed the Arabs from the borders of animality to the compounds of divinity.

Almighty Allaah says in the Holy Qur’aan:

“And we have not sent you except as a blessing to the entire creation”.

Blessed be the sands of Arabia which gave birth to such a noble son. Let the breezes blow sweetly and gently from the sacred land to fill the modern fighting world with peace, prosperity and hope.

The atmosphere of the earth vibrates five times a day with the proclamation of the Holy name of Mohammad (S.A.W.) as the messenger of Allaah, when the Mu’azzin (caller of the Azan) calls the believers for prayers (Namaaz or Salaat) from the minaret.

It is impossible for a Muslim not to remember the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.), the Holiest of the Holy after Almighty Allaah, with gratitude (thankfulness).

But once a year during the month of Rabi-Ul-Awwal the Muslims of the world celebrate the Holy Prophet’s birthday with befitting pomp, dignity and solemnity.

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) was endowed with the most sublime character. He was born at a time when the world was in a state of darkness and hopelessness. There was not a ray of hope to be seen anywhere.

While everywhere was dark the Arabian Peninsula was suddenly illuminated. The message of hope, peace and progress was delivered to humanity.

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) came with the last and final message of Allaah. He showed the right path to those who had gone astray and civilized the barbarians. If ever a man possessed a sublime character, it was the Prophet of Islam (S.A.W.).

A poet, describing the Prophet’s (S.A.W.) character sings: (translation)-

“He reached the height of perfection on account of his own accomplishments; he removed the darkness by his beauty; beautiful are all his attainments. Send blessings on him and his family”.

A Persian poet says:-

“You possess the beauty of Joseph (Yoosuf A.S.), the luminous palm of Moses (Moosa A.S.) and the breath of Jesus (Isaa A.S.). What they possessed collectively you possess alone”.

The Holy Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.) was a perfect model of everything graceful, beautiful and worthy of our respect and adoration. In fact he is a perfect model for all humanity to imitate and to follow.

As the Holy Qur’aan says:

“In the person of the messenger of Allaah there is good model for you (to follow)”.

Look at the character of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) from any angle and you will find inspiration and guidance. He was a good individual, a good companion, an obedient son, a loving father, a dutiful husband, a wise statesman, a prudent judge a valiant (brave) leader of the armies, a noble conqueror, etc.

In short, you will find him perfect and graceful from any angle.

The Holy Prophet of Islam (S.A.W.) is a universal and comprehensive pattern of action.

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said:

“Follow me, if you love Allaah (God). Follow me, if you are a kin; Follow me, if you are a subject. Follow me, if you are rich> Follow me, if you are poor. Follow me, if you are helpless. Follow me, if you are a saint.Follow me, if you are a patriot; (i.e. one who loves one’s country). Follow me, if you seek the highest model”. (Blessings of Allaah be on him and his family and friends).

It is therefore very essential for those who claim to love Serkaar-e-do-Aalam (leader of two worlds) our Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), that they follow him in his words and deeds and carry out his commandments, give up everything which he disliked and adopt his system (Sunnah) in ease and adversity (hard-ship).

Allaah says in the Holy Qur’aan:-

Say (O Prophet) if you love Allaah, follow me, Allaah will love you and forgive your sins; Allaah is forgiving, merciful. (Ch. 3, V. 31 Q)

Real Allegiance:-

Mecca had been conquered and Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) was wending his way back to Medina. Thousands of companions followed him and all were eager to hear a message from his mouth.

On the way the time of Asr Salaat or Namaaz had come. The Prophet (S.A.W.) was performing wuzoo when the companions flocked around him. They rubbed their faces with the water that he threw after wuzoo.

After making wuzoo, the Prophet (S.A.W.) asked those around him;

“Friends, why do you rub your faces with that water?”

They replied:

“To show our love and respect for you”.

The Prophet (S.A.W.) gravely said:

“If you really love me, then walk in my footsteps and accept my ideal; those who show me only outward respect and do not accept my example do not belong to my following”. (Bukhari Sharif)

O Muslim! It is not enough for us to celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) by offering lip service only. The manner in which to do it is to put into practice the teachingswhich he (the Prophet S.A.W.) brought for us.

Let us make Islam once again that lively force that it was in the glorious past by carrying its golden principle into our daily lives.

Today Islam has been made more theoretical than practical. Everyone writes or speaks about Islam but very few practice it. What is needed is practical Islam.

It is high time that we examine ourselves with sincerity and follow in the footsteps of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).

May Allaah give us true love for His beloved Prophet (S.A.W.) and the wonderful religion which he brought for us.

May Allaah through His Grace and Kindness guide us all to act in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).

Allaah knows best
